A desperate painter struggling with artistic and financial hardship pawns his beloved grandfather's armchair. This mundane action propels him on a fantastic journey which shatters his false values and transforms his view of reality.

Bright Black discusses certain cliches which society forces upon us. The cliche of dreams, the cliche of sudden fortune and, of course, the cliche of love. The aim was not simply to destroy or mock them, but to attempt to show values much greater to pursue and events much more fantastic to imagine. In other words, a modest attempt of human liberation as an individual under the burden of collective patterns.

The story inspired by a narrative element of an ancient Japanese folk tale "Miso kai bashi" (味噌買い橋) is deeply rooted in the arsenal of universal awareness of values, taking its shot at fathoming the omnipresent question of human condition, happiness and choices we make.
