If love is blind, how is jealousy expected to have 20/20 vision? Is Desdemona truly as pure as the south pole snowflake and Othello guilty as a barrel of crude oil?

Shakespeare doesn’t answer, all we do is blindly assume upon the signs we are thought to understand. But what may lurk behind the coulisse hiding the brute power of sexuality rooted in our animalistic body? Behind the collective stigma of male sexual predation, that is lifting a perfect smoke screen for a woman to hide behind.

Desdemona becomes the quintessential feminist liberator, letting her sexuality dominate, taking the revenge of her gender upon her shoulders. Inspired by a prostitute, she becomes the epitaph on the grave of romantic illusions, redefining Othello’s punishment just as she redefined herself. She crosses from the clear meadow with daisies into the Pan’s woods. We are grabbed by hysteria, in order to confront the devastating, hilarious self-image and sexual neurosis. Throw eggs at the actors but never stain the polished coulisse!
